I always try to watch at least the first episode of everything that comes out. Having done so I’ve concluded that so far only two of the new animes seem to have potential:

Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan

Maid sama

We can only hope that the other new animes manage to redeem themselves in the second episode.

Lee-leng Huan

November Fav Character: Lee-leng Huang of “Hanasakeru Seishonen”

There are a lot of gorgeous guys in Hanasakeru Seishonen,  but Lee-leng Huan stands out among them and is my favorite. He’s just too cute, especially when he was younger, he was just too adorable to believe. Acting so adult, while being so tiny an cute, he looked like a doll. Its hard to believe that Lee-leng was ever really that young and small, he seems like he must always have been grown up. Although for all intents an purposes, its seems like despite his size, when he was younger his personality wasn’t that different, an he still acted very adult.

From the first moment we see Lee-leng in the show, you can tell that he is in love with Kajika. And that is part of what makes him so wonderful. We see him stay by her side, even knowing that he can never have her. Loving her silently, while protecting her. Its heartbreaking. (So lets hope he gets her in the end) But its moving, to see the depth of his feelings for her. To him, Kajika is his world, as demonstrated by his actions and words again and again. Besides, its amusing to see ho much he changes around her. Usually he is so calm in and control, but when she enters the picture, things go haywire. He loses is composure an his ability to think reasonably.

I really love his human interactions, particularly with Kajika and also with Eugene and Rumaty. His fighting with Eugene adds new depth to his character. Its even more amusing if you think of it as a continuation of his fight with mustafa. I love the little moment of doubt he has his “No, it couldn’t be.. could it?” expression after Eugene does the same thing as Mustafa use to. And watching him play big brother to Rumaty is really cute. Seeing him tease him is too adorable, its a whole different, equally adorable, side to Lee-leng.

Overall, I just adore Lee-leng Huan, his attitude, his confidence, an his way of living. He is the character that I love watching most in that show, he makes it worth watching. But if he doesn’t en up getting Kajika, which it looks like he will, then I will totally cry, because the relationship between them is what makes Lee-leng so wonderful. Although, even then, I’ll still adore Lee-leng Huan.

In honor of Halloween I decided to list my top five vampires (Which is what my costume is) So here they are…

July Fav Character: Sei Satō of “Maria-sama ga Miteru”

Sei was the character that really made Maria-sama ga Miteru come to life for me, and then when she left I kinda lost interest in the show, her leaving broke my heart. She was just the character that sparkled with life, laughing all the time, teasing the others, she just touched your heart. Even more so once you learned of her past, and the things she had to get through to be who she is now. Knowing that makes you just have to love her more, for being so strong.

In a show that has heavy yuri undertones, Sei is the only actual out lesibian in the show, well other than her lover and another girl in love with Sei. We learn about her past when she was in love with a girl named Shiori, who at the time loved her back. They planned to run away together, but at the last minite Shiori didn’t come and left Sei to go become a nun. It took years for Sei to heal an become the person that we know and love in the show.

I really love seing the relationship between Sei and her petite sœur Shimako. On the surface it seems like unlike the other girls, that they are not close. But upon deeper inspection you find that they are just as close, but they relationship is very complex. She also grows to have a goo relationship with Yumi, the main character in the series. She is always teasing Yumi and play flirting with her, its so cute!

Overall Sei is just the character that makes the show shine! I love watching her antics and seeing what funny thing she will do next. She is a character that really touches your heart with her strength and with her ability to move on and live her life to the fullest.

Midori Days- Comedy/Drama/Romance- C+

Watched- All

Well, not a bad anime, but I’m not sure I’d make the leap to calling it good. There were a lot of really funny moments, which you have to expect with a guy with a tiny girl stuck on his hand. Lots of cute little awkward moments as Seiji and Midori begin to be attracted to each other. Its sweet and fun to watch, but not something you can’t live without seeing. I enjoyed it and got a few laughs, but I’m not going to rewatch it, and I didn’t like the end much.

June Fav Character: Eishi Sasazuka of “Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro”

He might seem like a strange choice for a favorite character, both in general and for that show, but I really loved him best in the show (although I also adore Godai) The way he just takes everything in stride without his expression changing or ever seeming surprised is just brilliant, and adds alot to the show. Its no that he doesn’t have feelings, as we see when he deal with X, just that he controls them, he believe strongly in the law and in what he is doing. I really like his dedication to his work, and his general competency. Not to mention the calming aura that he gives off.

Equally interesting and fun to watch are his interactions with his partner Ishigaki. I love watching him smash or throw out that kids toys and just generally look down on him for his obsession. Its too funny seeing how upset he gets, while Sasazuka remains blank faced. He really is a great character, having him thrown into the mix of that show just made a great show that much better. And sadly, finding out that he dies in the manga made me decide never to read it. Still I can enjoy watching him in the anime!

Sara Halifa

May Fav Character: Sara Halifa of “Gallery Fake”

I just adore Sara, she’s so vibrant and strong. Not to mention a real princess, which is brilliant. But what I love most about her is how true she is to herself. She follows her heart, and doesn’t try to hide thing, or feel ashamed of her feelings. She’s really courageous, escaping to another country after all her family died and starting over. She never whines about how awful thigns were for her or how unfair things have been, she just keeps going, as upbeat and cheerful as ever.

You have to respect the way she lives her life. She’s filthy rich, and lives in a hotel, so she doesn’t have to work. But she decided she wanted to work at Gallery Fake with Fugita and so she did, without pay. She follows him all around the world looking at art, dealing with one wild art adventure after another, loyally following him, solely because she loves him. She looks after him on a daily basis, cleaning for him, nagging him about his health, running errands, without any other reason than her feelings for him. At the moment he seems blissfully unaware of her feelings (the anime isn’t all subbed, so I haven’t watched it all) But hopefully he will come to realize them soon, and realize his own feelings for her. Their partnership is really unique but works well for them, they trust each other a lot and understand one another very well. They also care abut each other immensely, when something happens to one of them, or they get in trouble, the other one races to help. Besides, watching Sara get jealous is also too much fun, when she is mad at Fugita she throws her cat at him, he end up so scratched up! Whenever she catches him talking to another women or such, he gets the “oh god, please Sara, no don’t do it!” Face on, and usually says just those things. But they always make up and are back to being friends soon.

Overall Sara is just divine! She’s fun to watch, her moods show so easily on her face, an easy to love. Watching her and Fugita travel all over the world for art together is lots of fun, I look forwar to seeing her in the rest of the episodes once the are subbed!

April Fav Character- Zelman Clock of “Black Blood Brothers”

Well this may be the first time I picked what is technically a bad guy for my favorite, but it can’t be helped, I just adore him. He’s too hot to ignore, literally and figuratively. Who can resist the bad boy vampire who is a bit of a pyromanic, not me. Undeniably, he is a bad guy, he’s not following the rules of the society he lives in, he makes a name for himself on breaking them, he drinks human blood, and probably kills (this is not shown) However, he’s not the bad guy of the series, and he is shown to have his good points.

He is really cute when dealing with Kotaro, and suprisingly kind. I think even he was suprised by that. He really seemed to take a liking to the little boy, and even gave him good advice and protected him. It was just too adorable to see them eating ramen together, its so out of character for Zelman.

Overall, he’s a bad guy, buts he’s still my fav. Once he said the line to Kotaro and the compromiser, hit the ground and pray to god, that just cinched it for me, I loved him, he was just too cool. You just gotta love the bad boys, and its even better if they are vampires!
